His survival had been miraculous and the favor of the Creator rested on Moses being raised in the Pharaoh's own house with all of its luxuries. Even though Moses had been an orphan, the Pharaoh considered him to be his son, with all the rights that went along in that relationship. But, Moses was cut from a different cloth. There was something in his DNA that would not allow him to rest in the Pharaoh's house. He had come to know who his real family and origins were and he did not like the conditions they were being subjected to.
God had placed a calling on Moses’ life and Moses would rise to that calling. Moses first thought to address an issue of abuse perpetrated by an Egyptian soldier on a Hebrew servant and Moses beat the Egyptian soldier to death. Moses had taken matters into his own hands and had to flee Egypt because of his crime. Moses hid in the backside of the desert for 40 years until word came that conditions had changed in Egypt and he had been forgotten. The Creator had kept Moses throughout his 40 year tour in the backside of the desert and now was instructing him to return to Egypt and his people. Moses remembered how they had attacked him despite his effort to bring relief to an incident of abuse. What Moses did not realize in his carnal comprehension was that God was not going to relieve one's abuse only, but save the whole nation of Hebrews. Despite Moses efforts to argue about his limited ability, and give every reason he could think of why he could not be the one to lead the Hebrews, Aaron was enlisted and a wood staff was made a snake. When Moses picked the snake up, it turned into a staff again. God was trying to show Moses that all Moses had to do was trust Him and do what He directed. We have read about the plagues of flies, blood, and locust. We have even read about the instructions in surviving the passover. An angel would pass through the land and everyone who had not followed the instructions, Hebrew or Egyptian, would find their first born dead in the morning. Grieving began at the Pharoah's house after discovering his first born dead and he ordered the Hebrews their freedom. Hardships do things to people. It did not matter there was a pillar of cloud by day or a pillar of fire by night overshadowing and directed Moses and the Hebrews in the direction they were suppose to follow. To some it didn't make any difference that the whole Egyptian army perished in the Red Sea ordered to recapture the Hebrews. You see the Hebrews were the Egyptian's slave labor and the whole Egyptian economy would be diversely effected until Egyptian's might be forced to do the menial labor the Hebrews had been doing. I have written that hardships do things to people's thinking. Despite the miraculous there were many who complained. They complained about the manna, they complained about Moses and they registered their complaints by saying they preferred the leek and onion soup in Egypt than the quail and bread that fell from the heavens. Have you ever eaten a quail? It is delicious. Can you see where the Lord would like to take us in our thinking? We are living in perilous times. We have been subjected to oppression and stress no human being should have to endure and in these last days God sent an Ambassador and our Savior, Jesus Christ, to purchase our freedom from the world's delusions. He is the Greater than Moses and despite His going around and doing good and healing all that were oppressed unbeliever's rose up, created a kangaroo court and killed Him. Little did the enemy know that in killing Him, Jesus would establish for all who would follow Him, eternal life. I know of believers who have complained and wished for and pursued the leek and onions of the world. They like making bricks, even without straw. Life was dictated to them and they did not have to make a spiritual journey searching for it on their own. What they seem to have never grasped is that the Lord's Way is a lot easier than the ways of the world and the destination is out of this world. The Lord is showing me the parallels between the Hebrews and their escape from captivity and our existence in this present day world. Their is a Way that is above every way and the grace we need to be introduced to that faith path that will lead us home. John 5 [45] Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuses you, even Moses, in whom you trust. [46] For had you believed Moses, you would have believed Me: for he wrote of Me. Luke 16 [29] Abraham says unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. [31] And Jesus said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though One rose from the dead. I think the Lord would ask this question this morning, “Are you persuaded?” Acts 2 [38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. He has admonished, “Enter into My rest, wherein the weary do rest.”
