If it had not been for my desire to know the truth I would never have come to know the ugliness of the lie. I often refer to the book, “Lies My Teacher Told Me.”
My life was convoluted and hazy in my early years. Something inside me drove me on in my quest for balance and reality. I would never have discovered the myth had there not been a desire for truth. There are certain things I have come to understand as a Native Elder and citizen of a tribal nation. ♱Our story is not the only story ♱The Creator gave us two ears and one mouth so that we would listen twice as much as we talk ♱There is a greater picture of life and the values we should all embrace ♱First our considerations should be that, we are human beings first and members of the human race with a common origin in creation and secondly, members of the Red Race which is just one of four other races ♱With a common origin, we share a common belief about creation and the role of responsibility we occupy in creation ♱We are all apart of the Medicine Wheel and are responsible to each other with the common consciousness that there is a Land Lord and the Universe and all of creation belongs to Him I want abundant life. It is a life that the world cannot supply due to its false concepts and ideas, but I want to speak of a specific myth. To understand a myth it is critical that we have some loyalty and dedication to the truth no matter the outcome. The truth is, after all, more important than the lie. I think there is a quality in each of us, that is either, suppressed, or supported. If I am honest in seeking the truth, I must also be honest in embracing it and eliminated the impact and assimilation process the myth, if believed long enough, gains foothold. Without the truth there is no foundation, but a false sense of one; no balance of consciousness and ability to hear anything beyond what I am led to believe and support about the myth; and a penchant to force what is believed about the myth on others. The Lord spoke to us as individuals. His message is to remind us of the possibility of true freedom under His auspices. There are two major influences loose in the world. One is a lie and involved in creating myths and deceptions in his effort to convert and enforce compliance and the other immutable offering freedom and escape from any and all myths. A myth established itself on our Turtle Island. It has postured itself as the champions of true freedom after having nearly exterminated all the residents of this island. Since it's inception there has been nothing but wars and rumors of war. We, as a people, would tell you that we know about terrorists. They came to us in shepherd's clothes, dressed in black, bringing the darkness of their spiritual origin with them. They operated under the rod of a political, religious, social and economic system initiated in Rome by an emperor who designed his effort to imprison the world. Part of the myth would tell us that the colonists came to escape political and religious persecution, but under that guise created the very thing we were led to believe they were trying to escape. This continent now bears the burden of their greed, avarice and lust. The Constitution of the United States was written with false intentions and a nation was formed and its champions and decorated declared while in the shadows the people it had conquered were perishing under their hand in unprecedented numbers. The myth tries to hide the truth, create deception and a delusion. There is a truth which says, “Because they (meaning us) did not receive a love for the truth, they would believe a lie and be damned.” Strong words I know, but the truth anyhow, based on this saying, “Because they (meaning us) did not receive a love for the truth, God allowed a delusion.” We are living under the influence of a delusion. It is based on myth and not truth. At times the myth will cite the truth, but only the continue to validate the myth. There is no myth in Jesus Christ, no delusion! Brian Zahn wrote about the myth in his book “A Farewell to Mars.” Vine Deloria Jr. wrote about it in his book, “Custer Died For Your Sins.” Vine wrote another book entitled, “Red Earth, White Lies.” I think of the line in a movie spoken by an actor who emphatically said, “You can't handle the truth!” I find that to be true in too many places. Men and women do not seem to understand how much better their lives would be if the truth had preeminence. True freedom could be realized and the myth expelled.
